Gravity/Gravity, 2009
Plastic Sheeting, Digital Print on Poly/Silk Fabric, Wood, Corrugated Plastic, 2 computer ventilators, Arduino (for programming of timer)
84” x 106” x variable width

Gravity/Gravity inflates and deflates on a 2 minute cycle (one minute for inflation and one minute for deflation), which is controlled via a microcontroller and the intake and exhaust fans.  The image is from the Hubble Telescope and represents a galaxy cluster, though was published in the New York Times as an illustration of dark energy, which is visually imperceptible but is believed by many physicists to control the expansion and contraction of the universe.
